Visual Arts (March – April 2017)

To support the related concept of Exploration, students are going to explore their creativity in making board game.

Students are divided into 4 groups on each class where they are going to share their ideas (research skill), make plan together (communication skill),  and work in hand to create their own playable board game together (self management skill).

They also need to make sure all the pieces for the game to be ale to play for real, then they need to plan about the concept, the rules, the instructions, the players pieces, dice and cards. Therefore in a group, all of them will work according to their jo descriptions base on their own agreement.

Mandarin ( March – April 2017 )

In March – April 2017, Grade 4 students will learn about Eastern food (including “beefsteak”, ).

They will do the following activities:

  • writing vocabulary about eastern food (hanzi and pin yin) ;
  • reading vocabulary about eastern food (hanzi and pin yin);
  • listening and talking about eastern food;
  • describing eastern food

Central Idea  :  Exploration leads to discovery and develops new understandings

Summative assessment:

You are a statue of an explorer in Discovery Museum. You are going to show and explain about your exploration to visitors.

What (knowledge) :to know the purposes of exploration

Why (conceptual understanding) : in order to understand that exploration leads to discovery and develops new understanding

How (situation) :You are a statue of an explorer in Discovery Museum. You are going to show and explain about your exploration to visitors.

Content :

  • Mention the purpose(s) of exploration (own experience or from famous explorer)
  • Explain significant findings and challenges they met/learnt
  • Explain the impacts of the exploration

Process :

  • The attributes chosen are supportive (VA)

Oral presentation is easy to follow and understand (Communication skills)

Mandarin ( november – desember 2016 )

In November – Desember 2016, Grade 4 students will learn about some activity  (including “hide and seek”, “playing children slide ” and sing a song ).

They will do the following activities:

  • writing names of some activity (hanzi and pin yin) ;
  • reading names of some activity;
  • listening and talking about activity;
  • describing favorite activity; and
  • sing a song ” 世上只有妈妈好-  shi shang zhi you ma ma hao  (learn han zi and pin yin and the meaning of the lyric ). 

Mandarin ( January – February 2017 )

In january – february 2017, Grade 4 students will learn about Celebrate Birthday  (including “cake”, “food”  ).

They will do the following activities:

  • writing vocabulary about celebrate birthday (hanzi and pin yin) ;
  • reading vocabulary about celebrate birthday (hanzi and pin yin);
  • listening and talking about celebrate birthday;
  • describing celebrate birthday

Music (January-February 2017)

In this unit, the students will learn how to make connection, among 3 things, vocal, musical instrument and choreography, they will do real thing, perform on big stage, big event, art festival 20 feb 2017, they will colaborate with secondary orchestra, secondary choir and we will do vocal and choreography. This unit support the key connection concept
